Encourage patients to follow the care instructions that came with their purchase or found at extremitease.com to extend the life of their compression garment.

Is the liner covered by Medicare?
Liner may not be dispensed alone and is only covered when worn under the compression garment

• On page 77,836 of the Federal Register it refers to liners being covered as “liners worn under garments.”
• The Medicare Program; Calendar Year (CY) 2024 Home Health (HH) Prospective Payment System Rate Update also states: “the scope of the benefit for lymphedema compression treatment items includes accessories such as zippers in garments, liners worn under garments.”
• It also states: “Finally, there are accessories such as zippers in garments, liners worn under garments or wraps with adjustable straps, and padding or fillers that are not compression garments but may be necessary for the effective use of a gradient compression garment or wraps with adjustable straps.”
• That same rule also refers to coverage of accessories such as liners, that “facilitate use and enhance compliance rates” of the garment. So it’s all about supporting the garment.
• The Rule also provide coverage for: “accessories necessary for the effective use of gradient compression garments and gradient compression wraps with adjustable straps” and lists an example as “a liner that is used with a garment because it is needed to prevent skin breakdown.”
