DFU, PLANTAR SURFACE

PATIENT: 46-year-old African American male
MEDICAL HISTORY:
A teacher who previously had foot surgery including a ray resection. Long-term controlled diabetic presents with a plantar neuropathic ulcer over the 5th metatarsal head for several months duration. (Fig. 1)
TREATMENT:
Sharp debridement was performed to excise all calloused and necrotic tissue down to bleeding health tissue. Initiated daily dressings with HELIX3-CP Collagen Powder. Offloaded with adhesive-backed foam. (Fig. 2)
Continued to perform local sharp debridement weekly as required. Ensured the wound bed remained moist. Re-applied the HELIX3-CP Collagen Powder daily. He stands frequently due to his work. (Fig. 3)
RESULTS:
The wound almost healed in 7 weeks and the toe was salvaged. (Fig. 4)
